I was nervous about the hard shell being too heavy to lug around, but it's surprisingly light — I carried it one-handed through a busy airport without my arm giving out. The foam padding inside kept my cat calm the whole trip.
Took this on a train trip and the collapsible design was a lifesaver in a cramped seat — it flattened down enough to tuck under my legs when empty. The inner foam keeps my cat from sliding around, and despite the hard shell it's light enough to carry one-handed through the station.
The hard shell took a real beating in the overhead bin and my cat came out completely unfazed. It's surprisingly light for something this sturdy, and folding it flat afterwards was way easier than I expected.
