The freestanding design means I can shift it from the hallway to the kitchen doorway in seconds, no drilling or wall mounts needed. The wood finish actually looks like furniture instead of a typical plastic baby gate, which I didn't expect to care about but really do.
The wooden finish actually looks like furniture in my hallway instead of a baby gate, which I didn't expect. It's sturdy enough that my lab leans on it without it tipping, though the panels could use a slightly smoother slide when adjusting the width.
The wooden frame feels sturdier than I expected, and it actually looks nice in our hallway instead of like a plastic eyesore. Only gripe is the hinges are a bit stiff when folding it up, but once it's set in place it holds fine against our 40-pound dog.
